My Lessons are made around conversation (the most important skill that enables one to improve all the rest at the same time).
Each session will start with a review of previously learned concepts to reinforce understanding and build upon existing knowledge. Then we can tackle a new lesson, during which me and the student are interacting and learning at the same time. The lesson will lead to some exercises (some great and funny ones when the student is a bit experienced).
I give an exercise as homework to prepare for the next lesson. Exercises are corrected at the beginning of each session, before the main lesson, to see if the student had integrated the last lesson or needed some more attention.
I like when the class is really interactive and that both of us enjoy being here. Having nice conversations, sharing stories while learning, and integrating cultural insights into the lessons.
I will give honest feedback on what is great, what needs to be improved, and how to improve better in between classes.
I like to encourage students to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them. It's especially important because we are usually scared to make mistakes. I know it very well since I had to learn English and Portuguese with teachers and by myself when immersed in a new country. As soon as this fear is overcome, that’s when the students starts to make huge improvements, because the more mistakes you make, the better and faster you learn.
