I have taught all over the world from London to Lima, to Bari, to Muscat, and Guangzhou. I have taught ages from young learners to adults, in many different schools too; private schools to language institutes as well as local businesses. Depending on the lesson and what's required I like to tailor my lessons to the student. If my students works best with visual aids and clear step by step guidance then I'm happy to do that, or if they just need someone to set the grammar or vocabulary that's being tested and to check and correct their work then I'm just as comfortable doing that as well. It's important that the student knows that I care about their work, and the best way to do that is to present it to them in a way that is most appropriate to their learning style.
In the first lesson I usually figure out what type of student they are, and then depending on the level they're at I will make each lesson from their catered to their needs. I will ask them to do learn in ways that they are perhaps not always comfortable with as I think it's important to stretch ourselves too, and that making things overly comfortable can make people complacent and reduce their ability to learn. I also like to tie lessons together by having a revision period from the previous lesson at the start of the next one just to see if what we're doing is being understood.
I am a very calm and patient teacher. This comes from years of experience and a willingness to work with students that a lot of other teachers wouldn't want to teach.
