As I want to be a teacher who is passionate about seeing my students thrive to success, I will try out different methods of teaching to provide fun and engaging lessons where possible. I have come to understand through tennis and table tennis coaching that each and every student has different needs and capabilities, and so I will tailer my teaching in order to appeal and engage my students. I am open to ideas, feedback and constructive criticism in order to ameliorate my style of teaching, and I believe that this is a very important thing. I have seen many teachers who seem like they're rather bored and uninterested in their subject, and so when the teachers aren't interested then the students have no chance of enjoying themselves. Whether you want to study "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, poetry by Sylvia Plath or rudimentary novels or English skills, I think I might be the teacher for you. If teaching secondary aged students, or anyone else interested, we will not only read the plays/novels/poems but also analyse them, look into the rich symbolism that they contain and research the historical contexts in which they were written. People say English is a boring subject to do, but if you do it with me then I believe you might think the opposite. Napoleon Bonaparte famously said: "Show me a family of readers, and I will show you the people who moved the world". And so we should take inspiration from this - reading and studying English can change our lives, and consequentially, the world.
