I have been a volunteer teacher for the out of school youth and out of school adults here in the Philippines. I teaches them the basic literacy skills. I even teaches those illiterates with the basic knowledge they should learn despite of their ages. I do believe that we are all born unique and equal. Because of that my teaching strategies differ from each of my learners. The dynamic of the lessons will depends on the needs of my learner and their ability to catch up on a given time frame. I really look deeply on each individual way of learning. We all have a different style in learning such as, some might want to hear some music while studying. Some might want to be in a quite place during this time. This is something that I focus details into. The difference between each individual's learning ability. Aside from this, I also make each discussion as an open arena for me and my learner's. Because for me exchange of ideas is a good thing. It will give a light environment throughout the teaching period. Deeply understanding on my learners ability, and necessary needs when it comes to learning will give me the idea on how to handle them with ease. Aside from being a tutor, I want them to see me as a friend whom they can talk to openly. Despite from our difference in race, we are all human. And knowing that alone, can make a change for the better.
