A qualified teacher with over 15 years’ experience teaching KS1 and KS2 in local primary schools, I have an excellent proven track record in securing top grades for my students.
Many of my former tutees have secured entrance to independent schools by passing the eleven-plus verbal and non-verbal reasoning exams. Furthermore, I have supported children in Key Stage 2 meet and exceed the age-related expectations for English and mathematics.
My approach to mathematics utilises a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach, to ensure that all students understand the concepts taught on a deeper, rather than a superficial level. This enables them to truly understand ‘why’ the mathematics works, rather than blindly following an algorithm.
With English, I have an extensive knowledge of children’s literature and utilise this to inspire and motivate learners to find the joy in reading and writing. From this, I ensure that the he fundamentals of grammar are understood thoroughly and applied rigorously.
When tutoring, I always take a lead from the parents’ or pupils’ needs, rather than sticking to a rigid programme. My approach is very much centred around the learner and I am experienced enough to be able to adapt to meet emerging needs. I am able to help with homework or create a bespoke programme to meet learners’ individual needs. Having just had a child of my own, I understand that your child is your most important asset, and I always strive to do what is best for them.
