I have taught EFL in Ireland and abroad. I am able to put myself in the shoes of the non-native English-speaker. It's important for the learner to understand what is correct in the language they are learning, and it is important for them to understand that national and regional uses of that language are often contracted or altered. A student can be proficient on paper, and alienated in conversation. This is a particular area of interest for me. We all know people who are native speakers of a language, but do not know the rules of that language the way someone studying it as a foreign language does. The study itself is a language of its own. I consider it vital to speak clearly and deliberately to teach, and then to move to conversation with the student that might be closer to what they would hear in an English-speaking environment. I have taught in language schools, given private tuition to business clients, taken students in for live-in training, and I have given in-house language lessons at businesses that offered English language training as a perk to their employees. One of the most interesting things anyone can do is learn a new language. Whatever the reasons for it, I enjoy facilitating that journey. I am Irish. I live in Co. Waterford, in Ireland. I have the experience you need to learn English as a foreign language. Languages are live, and fascinating. English is my speciality, I can help you to learn and enjoy it.
