Hi, I'm Jo and I work as a Stage Manager in theatre. I am an informal and laid-back tutor and I aim to be supportive and encouraging. My goal is to bring out the best in my students and help them realise the extent of their abilities. My methods of teaching vary based on the student. I'm a big believer in finding the right approach for the person, as everybody learns differently. I like to get to know my students well so that I can find the best learning technique for them, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all system. A lot of the technique I teach is how to fulfil the criteria to pick up maximum marks, as well as ensuring my students understand the content. I have 5 years tutoring experience, mainly at GCSE level, as well as some experience teaching younger students too. I mainly tutor Maths, but I also have experience teaching English and Science. My lessons tend to start off as a fairly general overview and chat, giving me a chance to understand your requirements and what you hope to gain from these lessons. My lessons will become more specific as I grow to understand your needs and your learning style and speed. I like to focus on no more than one or two topics per lesson, starting with the basics and working up to the highest level possible. Once I think you're ready, we will start putting what you've learned into the context of an exam, spending time on exam technique, time management and holding your nerve in the exam room. I have a proven record of helping students predicted not to pass their GCSE to get the results they are capable of and deserve to achieve.
