It is important the student has the final say in how they want to be taught as they ultimately know what is the best approach for them.
I would spend the first lesson understanding their main target and what they need to work on and from there I would develop a framework for going forward.
Lessons would be interactive, ensuring the student is always engaged and understand what is going on and I would set homework every other week to make sure they are able to consolidate on the knowledge whilst ensuring it is manageable alongside their regular school work.
I have spent the last 2 years teaching GCSE maths to students alongside my university studies and so I have the relevant experience to deliver high quality lessons.
