I place prime importance on building and maintaining trusting relationships with colleagues and pupils. I am an experienced teacher, having been teaching professionally for nearly 25 years. I have taught children and young people across all the Key Stages, having trained as a primary teacher but since 2004, I have been teaching the secondary aged group, mainly Mathematics but also Humanities and English both language and Literature. I am well organized and work well both as part of a team and independently. I regard myself as an excellent communicator being both outgoing and friendly. I am confident and adaptable to any teaching situation. Above all I feel that it is important to transfer my enthusiasm for the subject, to the pupils, teaching and motivating them appropriately.

My most recent role has been working for Gateshead Education Support Services, Gateshead Virtual School and Emmanuel College as a tutor. This involved teaching Year 6 to Year 11 pupils on an individual basis. These pupils were unable to attend educational establishments for a number of reasons, some had been permanently excluded mainly due to behavioural issues whilst others were unable to attend because of mental health and special educational needs, such as anxiety, ASD or other emotional issues. The work was planned according to the needs of the individual and progressed at the rate the individual learnt. I taught up to GCSE level in Mathematics, English, English Literature and History. A key element of this work was forming positive relationships both with the individual pupils but also their families, as I spent ten hours per week with each pupil. I started this work in September 2018 and only stopped it recently at the beginning of May 2022.
