Jill in a nutshell
I have been teaching KS1 & KS2 English to students for many years, and teaching online for the past four. I have created a wealth of lessons that teach and consolidate learning in both subjects and have tried to incorporate as much fun as possible into each class.

I have been teaching KS1 & KS2 English to students for many years, and teaching online for the past four. I have created a wealth of lessons that teach and consolidate learning in both subjects and have tried to incorporate as much fun as possible into each class.

I start from the very basics. So in English, I begin by teaching the component parts of sentences - nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives etc., and then we progress on to subjects such as inference, grammar, writing, spelling, punctuation and many other areas.

I have created powerpoints that explain concepts simply and also created worksheets to support each topic. In class, we go through the general learning powerpoint and then work through one worksheet together, and then you will complete further sheets on your own - with my support, if required.

I take my time with each lesson because if one concept is not fully understood, there is no point moving on to the next because doing so can cause confusion. I try to ensure each student feels secure and safe enough to be able to confidently ask for help if they need it and I never 'shame' someone for not understanding something. I remember only too well that feeling of being the only person not to 'get' something in a lesson, and have vowed never to knowingly make another feel that way. We all learn by failing at things at times and should not be scared of it - it's the trying again that provides the warmth of success.
