Teaching is a profession I am enthusiastic and passionate about. Firstly, the opportunity it offers me to help students realize and achieve their talents and ambitions is something I cherish. Also, the fascinating and challenging nature of physics and its potential to solve most of the challenges the world is facing call for close attention. The knowledge gained from the course is something I would like to replicate. To achieve this, teaching is the best avenue that offers such a platform. Apart from the opportunity to know the subject and teaching methods, teaching is a profession that makes one a lifelong learner. My academic qualifications and skills acquired through career development and work experience closely meet the requirements for teaching this age group (16–18). I am a graduate of the University of Jos, Nigeria, with an M.Sc. in Applied Physics (Atmospheric). Before this qualification, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics (Upper Second-Class Division) from the Plateau State University, Bokkos, in 2016. The courses: electromagnetic theory, quantum mechanics, general physics (waves and optics), thermal physics, mathematical methods, electricity and magnetism, mechanics, and mathematics are a few among many that I passed with outstanding grades while studying for my undergraduate degree. While studying for my Master’s Degree, I again studied Mathematical Methods, Applied Electronic Workshop Practice, Electromagnetic Theory, Quantum Theory, and Numerical and Computational Methods, in addition to two other elective courses in Atmospheric Physics. This phase of the study has further expanded my knowledge of physics and prepared me for research. Until my recent employment as an Assistant Lecturer at Karl Kumm University Vom, I have taught physics and mathematics at the senior secondary school for over five years. Of these years, over three years have been spent teaching students in the senior secondary school, whose age range is between 14 and 16. This position has allowed me to replicate my knowledge through teaching and carrying out other academic tasks ranging from the setting and marking of students' tests and examinations, keeping records of students’ academic progress, and supervision, to name a few. The practical demonstration of my commitment to work was seen in the overall performance of my students in the National Examination (NECO), where all of them successfully passed physics with outstanding grades. In addition to my knowledge of the course, I possess the requisite teaching skills: empathy, patience, communication, teamwork, time management, and leadership, among other skills that are expected of a teacher. My effort and dedication to duty were recognized through my promotion to the rank of acting principal at my previous school. Furthermore, my current position as an assistant lecturer at a university has acquainted me with the modus operandi of the tertiary institution of learning, particularly in teaching students within the said age bracket. As such, I will not find it difficult to easily adapt to teaching this age range in the UK. Currently, I perform the roles of teaching General Physics I (Mechanics), grading students' academic progress by conducting tests and examinations, guiding students in conducting experiments in the laboratory, and providing an advisory role to students concerning their academics, among other roles. I am confident that my previous studies and work experience have equipped me with the requisite experience, knowledge, and teaching skills required for this job.
