For English Literature:
We will use a range of different texts and extracts similar to what would be used in your final exams (both see and unseen). I'll help you go through and analyse the texts initially and then show you how to properly structure an analytical essay which is what you will be expected to write in your final gces exams. Once you show me your work I will go through and mark it and then discuss with you my comments and how you can improve. We would be working over microsoft teams and I will share a document link which will have the text on it and you will then write your points in comment boxes initially. We will then take these and discuss the best way to answer a theme or device specific question, for example 'how does the author use imagry to portray emotion?' With these points I will then show you how to prooperly plan an essay so it is cohesive and sturctured correctly to ensure you get those formatting marks. Then I will ask you to write a section of an essay (dependant on how much time is available or if you are willing to do work outside of sessions) and feedback will be given and any weak points will be idenitfied to be worked on in the following session.

Alternatively if you would prefer, I can instead help with preassigned homework tasks already set by your teachers.

For English Language:
I will start with asking to see your most recent exam paper or instead get you to write different kinds of written pieces to check your understanding of different structures you could be asked for during your exam. Once an understanding of the formats that could be asked is established we will work on improving vocabulary and confidence to be able to use linguistic devices with confidence.

I understand how difficult it can be to improve in a large class when getting personal feed back can be difficult or intimidating and I am more than happy to help.I am quite new to tutoring but I have taken exams only a few months ago and can empathise with acedemic stress and I hope to be able to show you how to improve without expending unnecessary energy.
