Hi! My name is Jess, I’m an undergraduate Neuroscience student with a passion for teaching. I have been teaching for 3 years, and have experience in tutoring Biology and Chemistry, as well as various musical subjects, such as Cello and Piano.
My lessons focus on exam preparation, and I teach students to use the exam board specifications in a way that will aid their learning and revision. However, I hope to also motivate students for a passion in their subjects beyond exams. I will teach students content that could come up with exams, and help them solidify their knowledge through past paper questions. I find that past papers are the most valuable revision tool for GCSE and A-level students, so familiarising students with commonly examined topics and exam-style questions is really important. I also would encourage to ask me as many questions as possible during our lessons, as this is a great way to learn, and allows lessons to be interactive. I would say the lesson format will depend a lot on the student, and what learning style works best for them, so each lesson is tailored to the needs of the student. I will be setting varied amounts of homework depending on the intensity of revision needed, and the student’s schedule, so I would ask students to do some independent studying. Overall, I hope to achieve a positive learning environment where students are comfortable, know that there is no such thing as a silly question, and strive to do their best.
