As a tutor, I will not only help you with topics you need help with, but also incorporate and teach you learning strategies that make learning much easier, such as:
1. Condensing large chunks of content into the few steps/ideas needed to solve problems
2. Finding similarities between different topics to make them easier to remember together
3. Making the most of practice problems by finding and noting down the key concept needed to solve each problem that you don't know how to do, so that you will know how to solve future problems
As an example of using these learning strategies, a major part of AP Statistics is hypothesis tests, which there are many types of. However, ALL the types of hypothesis tests can be done with just 4 steps: setting up the test, obtaining a test statistic, obtaining a p-value, and getting the results.
Subjects I'm open to tutoring in:
- Any math up to and including AP Calculus BC (Calculus II)
- AP Statistics
- AP Micro & Macroeconomics
- High school physics
- AP Physics 1
- AP Physics C (Mechanics or E&M)
My Experience:
- In school, I've often answered classmates' questions because my effective learning strategies have allowed me to quickly understand the content myself. In AP Economics, classmates were impressed that oftentimes there were as many people asking my teacher questions as there were asking me questions.
- I started independently learning calculus in just 8th grade, enough to teach it to peers when I finished 9th grade. They were very thankful for my clarity and conciseness.
- 5's on 10 AP exams, including a perfect score the on AP Microeconomics exam (1 of only 44 perfect scores worldwide, with ~96,000 test takers)
