I have been a science and PE teacher since 2017 and in that time have crafted effective and enjoyable lessons to ensure that the content is understood. My areas of subject expertise are in biology and physics which I have taught at GCSE level for over four years. As an educator I have ensured that I maintain clear and effective communication with students to help understand their needs and help them reach their goals. My greatest assets as a teacher are that I am very patient and highly enthusiastic. My enthusiasm helps to keep students focussed and, in the moment, while my patience allows students the time to achieve their goals. I believe in shaping lessons to fit each individuals need as I know from first-hand experience that education is definitely not a one size fits all approach. I believe that students should be given all the tools to problem solve the task at hand. I am a strong believer in inquiry-based learning and providing students with the time to reach the answer. Lessons will include a mix of previous content and new content. Students will be given the necessary skills to progress with content. I aim to incorporate real life examples from everyday life to help solidify understanding and learning. In my current role, I have held tutoring sessions for students who were not achieving the results that they wanted. During these sessions I broke down the content to make it more relevant to student interests and helped to overcome their learning barriers.
