My experience as a Learning Support Worker, plus my own experience of being neurodivergent, has taught me that every individual is different and will learn in various ways. Therefore, the format of which I prefer is to develop personalised learning strategies that align with each student’s strengths and preferences. This might include visual aids for visual learners, hands-on activities for kinesthetic learners, or verbal discussions for those who thrive in auditory environments. I offer students choices in how they demonstrate their understanding, whether through written assignments, presentations, creative projects, or discussions. This empowers them to take ownership of their learning.

Moreover, I emphasise creating a safe and supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, asking questions, and sharing their experiences. This is particularly crucial for neurodivergent individuals who may need extra reassurance to participate. I also focus on highlighting and nurturing each student's strengths, helping them build confidence and motivation. Celebrating small victories can be a powerful tool in fostering a positive learning experience.

Having my own experience with neurodiversity allows me to approach my students with empathy and understanding. I can relate to the challenges they face and strive to provide them with the support they need to succeed.

In summary, my teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student is unique and deserving of an educational experience tailored to their needs. I am committed to fostering a learning environment that embraces diversity and promotes personal growth. I look forward to working with students to help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential!
