Hi students. I have been teaching piano for a little over 23 years. A lot of students have different levels of abilities but the main aim is always for students to really try to get a grip of their piano skills, techniques and imaginative perspectives. Of course it takes time but you must have patience to practice diligently, meaningfully, with imagination, passion and determination to improve. My qualifications include DipABRSM, ATCL, LTCL, LRSM, FTCL so I believe that I can bring a certain sense of logic to your lessons. The lessons themselves are basically traditional which include scales, arpeggios, chromatics and technical exercises. The pieces will be focused on ABRSM, TCL levels so as to get a proper assessment of abilities. At the end of the day there must be some level of fun so at times the repertoire may very for the sake of musical interest and excitement. Try hard to ensure that you have a proper piano, upright or grand, so as to develop finger strength, flexibility and sensitivity. An electric keyboard may not be able to fully develop your finger prerequisites as a pianist in a classical sense. I always try to encourage students to have a certain passion for a particular composer(s) because this can greatly enhance their perspectives on pianistic touch for example the different touch required for baroque as compared to romantic styles or even classical. Ultimately and at the end of the day you must enjoy your piano for all the colors it may present in your lives.
