I have been teaching history for numerous years both inside and outside the classroom and I prepare my lessons for you to really succeed in not just history but all of your studies. Learning history can be broken down into three key areas: your knowledge (knowing the chronology of events, people, places and dates), your understanding of concepts (such as to what extent things changed, what were the causes and consequences of certain events), and your historical skills (how to accurately evaluate a source or interpretation). My lessons overtly utilise learning in all three of these areas to encourage you to learn not only chronology of events but how to use understanding of concepts and skills to really develop and improve at history.
I will tailor my lessons around the curriculum you are learning in an engaging, exciting and interactive approach. However, the understanding of historical concepts and development of skills can apply to any period of time studied. So, if you wished, we could go off piste as it were and delve into historical periods and events not traditionally seen or studied in school to develop these skills in a new and exciting environment.
I bring a love and passion for the subject combined with a disciplined approach that will have you not only making great progress in the field of history both in your studies and beyond your academic career but also these lessons will enable to to develop skills that are practical for day to day life. A large amount of history is analysis of information, working out what is more likely to be true and what is flawed, these skills are increasingly important in modern life with the glut of information we receive through the news and social media every day and it is important to be able to analyse them to remain an informed individual.
