I would use my training as a driving instructor to find out the best methods for teaching you as an individual and my teacher training to put across new knowledge in a fun and engaging way.
Teaching 8 and 9 year olds taught me that you can not hold people's attention and expect them to learn by talking on and on, it has to be a 2 way process. Teaching teenagers and adults how to be a croupier taught me that everyone has their own ways of learning and their own personalities, likes and dislikes. I love to have fun and want to enjoy my work, not only through the satisfaction of knowing that I have taught someone but by enjoying each other's company along the way. I want to be excited about the next lesson and I want my pupils to feel the same way.
There will be suggested reading materials (these can be sent out or purchased online), question and answer sessions and some presentations. Lessons will follow the format: Recap/ objectives/ presentation/ Q and A/ check for understanding/ homework setting/ next lesson. Lessons may involve reading and reflection, word games, pictures, writing tasks, conversation, practical exercises , extra practice where needed and celebrating successes.
