Whether you are aiming to pass or aiming for a top grade; my teaching method would be based around the individual, by focusing on topics they find hardest or finding the specification areas they are loosing marks. I would help them by building on what has already been taught in the classroom, helping with revision and looking at exam techniques. This extra assistance is affordable and should boost their learning, pushing them for the next grade and building their confidence in the subject. I tutored GCSE science students whilst completing my A levels; during this time I would go over the most recent lesson covering any difficulties, seeing what they remembered or fully understood and providing ideas on how best to remember that particular context area. I would then move onto a more general revision to try and highlight which subject areas needed work to then make a plan focusing on these. I work from the specification so that the exact content is covered in the amount of depth necessary for exams. This allows me to help create useful revision tools such as flashcards or posters, saving the students time. I use games, videos, diagrams and other tools to make the lessons more fun and to let the content really sink in. Overall, I would use my own experience of the GCSE and A level exams to help students through the learning and revision process. This may be a few lessons to give them the revision tools needed or a longer term assistance for focused learning and recap.
