I will start the sessions by identifying your child’s learning style and areas of the subject that your child feels they find the hardest, I would also like to know which modules or topics your child studies within Sociology so I can be prepared for future sessions (as well as the exam board).
With learning content – I would typically take a visual and auditory approach and create and talk through revision resources of the difficult topics, but again the approach will be different for everyone depending on their preferred learning style. If there are areas of difficulty, I can make some revision resources and send it to your child to look over beyond sessions and explain and talk them through it during sessions.
With Sociology, learning an effective essay structure and technique is just as important as learning the content, so I will break down the marking process of the examiners so that we are able to understand how to achieve as highly as possible. We will work on essay structure – I will provide essay plan templates and forms of revision plans and templates which can be used outside the sessions. Depending on your needs, will also work on exam technique and time management, as well as how to tackle each question, wording wise and time wise.
I am currently working as a teaching assistant in a primary school but am free after 4:30pm on weekdays and free on weekends for online tutoring. I achieved an A* in AQA Sociology at A-Level (2022) and achieved 30/30 in my essays, I personally studied Education, Crime and Deviance, Theory and Methods, Beliefs and Families – so these will be my preferred areas, however I am happy to tutor in other areas. I look forward to tutoring and the lessons will be moulded by your child’s needs and can be tailored throughout.
