My lessons usually begin with checking any homework from prior lessons, going through any difficulties and reviewing mistakes. We then move onto the lesson plan, which usually is set at the start of each month based on students requests. (I mostly try to stick to the order of topics, but requests are greatly welcomed). The lesson is taught in a lecture type of format using pre-made PowerPoints, though students will be given time to take notes, ask and answer questions given by me, to check on the students knowledge and understanding. After being taught students are sent worksheets to complete based on the topic(s). At this point, students are working independently, but they are free to ask questions on any struggles within the worksheet. Next, as a class we work through and check each question. Finally, students are tested on their knowledge and are sent a google forms, mini test for me to see how well the students were able to understand the lesson. Based on the results I design personalised homework for each student. Homework basics would include pre-made flashcards for further revision, Seneca and topic papers based on the lesson. Papers are split into three categories, and are given based on the results of each student (Beginner, intermediate and advanced). If students wish to learn other topics which aren’t the same as the chosen class topics, E.g due to upcoming exams I allocate time to teach them 1:1 within the time where other students are set questions (This should usually be told in advanced but before the lesson is also fine!!). At the end of each lesson a report is sent to parents and students via email; students should feel free to inform me on any upcoming exams for pre-made revision timetables and flash cards, which I create myself. At the end of each month I attempt to send students work packs to help them with revision even further, and postcards are often sent to parents to praise students on their work in class!!
