I've been teaching undergraduate students on the vet degree course for almost ten years as well as working with young people in schools in both a teaching and pastoral care capacity. I am a visual learner and teacher so we use lots of diagrams and flow charts to explain concepts. I like to use examples of previous exam questions to get the student to think and put different pieces of information together. We use real life examples of where understanding biology is important to put the learning into context.
I provide a safe environment where the students are encouraged to interact and ask questions in a dialogue based type of teaching rather than lecture style. I find this is more inclusive and supportive.
Lessons will be tailored for the level to be attained (GCSE/A level/degree) and can be adjusted to take into account neurodiversity or any other adjustments needed - I am trained in all aspects. I'm also DBS approved to work with people under 18.
I try to make my lessons fun and informative using a variety of media - I use mentimeter to gauge responses, and a mix of interactive and slide show presentations using Collaborate and PowerPoint. The students will be directed to additional learning materials online - YouTube, bitesize learning tools etc. Happy to do tutoring online, or in person to suit, and as frequently as is required.
