I have experience in both classroom and private settings, tutoring students between 10 to 19 years in a broad range of subjects across the humanities (with additional specialisation in US college admissions). I'm a musician and a historian by training, but really, my true love is the written word – with all of my students, I do a lot of fine-grained work on clear, persuasive, and elegant (in that order) writing. Effective writing doesn't have to be boring and formulaic!
While I enjoy classroom teaching (I'm currently working in the Music department at a private school in south London), I'm a big believer in the power of tutoring. In a one-on-one context, students and I can create a unique, bespoke curriculum, teaching core material in a way that caters to unique passions and interests. My favourite lessons to date have been on subjects ranging from French opera to Fahrenheit 451.
I have taught in a variety of different contexts, across three continents (Australia, America, and Europe) and for clients ranging from orchestras to schools. No lesson looks the same because no student is the same!
