My lessons begin usually with a starter activity which takes around 5 minutes, the focus for this is usually knowledge retrieval. This is important to ensure that previous content has stuck in the long term memory. Following will be the main bulk of the lesson, usually including teacher led activities then student independent consolidation. We will then feedback, praise and reflect on misconceptions. The lesson will end with a plenary.

Throughout the lesson any questions will be taken seriously and it is extremely important to me that my students are comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. That is how we all learn !

I am experienced with teaching History, Geography and R.E however I have 11 GCSES with an A in English and A in Maths so am comfortable teaching a range of different subjects and topics. It is important to me to understand the needs of my students and therefore in the first session I will try and find out as much as I can about what progress my students want from their tutoring sessions. I believe it is necessary to also adapt my tutoring throughout, therefore if a topic springs to mind for my students then the following session I can adapt each lesson to ensure that my students are getting the absolute most out of their learning experience.

Ultimately I am here to support, encourage and motivate and ensure that by the end of their life experience with me each student would have reached their own level of progress.
