I start by making sure my pupils are well prepared and that they have all the equipment they need. If I am teaching a school aged pupil I ensure that my teaching follows a pattern similar to the school curriculum.
History of fashion and art is an important part of how I teach as I believe that every practical piece of work should be grounded in research and context. This does mean that research skills and contextual studies will be taught alongside any practical work.

As well as the actual subject content, I also teach organisation skills, time management and professional presentation techniques so that pupils can feel proud of their work and use it to show potential employers.
