I base my lessons around what the student wishes to achieve in terms of particular topics or themes that they may be studying in class, or around a particular text, book, or theme that they need to prepare for an exam. I would make a quizlet vocab list during each lesson of new words that we come across and test them on these words at the start of each lesson. After this mini quiz I like to start the lesson with a small conversation in the language, asking them about their day and what they have been doing, to get used to this conversational vernacular.
