About me

Hi future student! I’m going to explain to you what a typical lesson with me usually looks like.
So when you first arrive we'll have a quick catch up where I’ll ask you about your day and what was good about it. If you had school that day I will ask what your favourite lesson was and what you learnt in it. This is just to relax the mood so we can both get settled into the lesson.
I will then ask...
I will then ask you more specifically about what you were learning in English or Maths (or whichever subject we have been focusing on in our lessons) to check if there was anything you were confused about and would like me to go over. If there is we will start with that. I will quickly review the topic with you and give you some practice questions to answer on it.
If there wasn’t anything you wanted me to go over, I will start our lesson with a prepared starter task which might either be a few short questions or a quick game relating to the previous lesson’s topic.
For the main portion of the lesson I will teach you a new topic, using videos, graphs and other tools to break it down in a way that you best understand, and to make sure you are listening along the way I will be asking you lots of questions about the things I have explained.
After this we will work through some practice questions together, making sure you know the correct way to answer different types of questions. This part of the lesson will hopefully build up your confidence on the topic so that you feel ready for some independent work on the topic (the next part of the lesson).
You will then have around 10 minutes for independent work in lessons to answer questions on the topic by yourself. We will mark these questions and correct any errors together, as the last part of the lesson.
Finally, just before I let you go, I will set you some homework, usually related to the lesson topic to make sure you don’t forget everything I have taught you. How you do in these homework tasks will determine whether or not we remain on that topic in our next lesson or move on to a new topic.
