I have taught maths for many years. I have a very high level of maths, but have also taught pupils as young as 3 yr.old, so I know how pupils can find it difficult. I have noticed that some students do well at first, but then get stuck on on particular topic. Because maths is a subject which builds on previous work, this means that they loose confidence and do not make further progress. I have helped many students to regain their confidence by isolating their problem. My lessons concentrate on the individual, what it is they do not understand and how to over come the problem. I use whiteboard or powerpoint presentations and dialogue.
