My lessons truly depend upon what the learner needs. I take a survey of the student to ascertain areas of interest and personal goals for learning and outcome. I often involve a mini-component of grammar tips with oral reading of passages to assure pronunciation is accurate and mistakes can be corrected in real time. I try to make connections from the reading to real life scenarios to deeper embed understanding of the content. I incorporate Interactive notebooks with lessons so that the student has opportunity to process the material with marginal annotation. Historically, the tactics of my teaching style produce significant results with focused support to those students learning English as another language, or native language speakers who struggle due to gaps in their historical foundation. I try to keep the lessons quick paced with an element of fun to assist with student engagement and concept mastery. I have over 20 years of experience from which I draw to support students where they are in their learning voyage to quickly move them to proficiency in the English langugage. I truly enjoy helping students learn and love nothing better than that moment of "Ah-ha!" when a concept clicks into place for the learner. My goal is to help students meet their own personal goals as they explore their lessons. I believe that all people can learn, but we do so at our own unique pace. If one method does not work in teaching then we try another tactic for a better result.
