Jan in a nutshell
My Lessons will be quite fluid, freeform and casual. First sessions will be focused on assessing the needs of the students- focusing specifically on where they feel they would like to improve. The goal here is to build a rapport with students, as the student should be comfortable talking to me and seeing me as a person invested in their education- and not just a face on a screen. Future sessions will then be constructed around meeting the specific needs of the student.

In Historical and Social Sciences, lessons will be focused on powerpoints covering topics related to the students learning and their given curriculum. Here I will draw on my own experience as an Anthropologist and Archaeologist and will teach students to expand their knowledge base, while still keeping their curriculum as a key focal point. In this way, Students will have an experience that will not only help them achieve their academic goals, but will also present students with an enriching and fun experience.

In Music, my lessons are far more relaxed and even more decentralised. The focus here isn't for students to be shoehorned into a curriculum. Lessons will instead be focused on learning to enjoy the instrument. Students will be taught practical skills in particular instruments to a level of functional competency. Not only will they learn to play the guitar/bass/sing, they will also learn how the instrument works, its internal electronics and how to maintain them- the mechanisms of the voice and how to take care of the voice and so on. I will in part be drawing on previous 1:1 experience I have had in informal music tutoring, alongside my level 3 in Music Performance and my years of self teaching as a singer, guitarist and bassist. I will also be drawing on practical experience gained in my time performing in various positions in bands and as a solo performer.

If interested in lessons please contact me via email . My going rate is 12£ an hour however I am open to adjusting costs based on financial situations of the student.
