Through my personal experience of school, I quickly learned that the best teachers were ones that were kind, patient and passionate. I had some outstanding teachers who inspired me to follow in their footsteps. Dedication such as theirs is something I strive for so that others may benefit the way I did.
Following a period working as a teaching assistant, I qualified as a class teacher, teaching in primary school. During this time, I also began tutoring GCSE Maths privately. The wealth of experience in all of these areas over the past eight years has given me an excellent understanding of how to overcome the different barriers to learning that students face. In particular, my own experience of education with a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome enables me to approach the additional needs of students with a level of understanding that others may not have. Some of my past and current students have a range of additional needs that stem from neurodivergencies such as autism, ADHD, PDA and Specific Learning Difficulties like dyslexia. Regardless of their needs, I always do my best to enable their learning.
I am highly motivated and positive - it is my priority to ensure that after every lesson, students come away feeling accomplished about what they're learning. There is nothing I enjoy more than helping people to realise their potential, especially when it involves overcoming difficult tasks and challenges. Lessons with me are carefully planned and adapted to suit the specific needs of each student, taught with patience and humour to ensure both an educational and enjoyable experience for all.
