I am a skilled in cognitive behavioural informed interventions, I have expertise in structured behavioural activation, encouraging clients towards understanding their pleasure seeking behaviour with behavioural and emotions journalling, identifying and challenging distorted narratives and building the skills to manage them with cognitive reframing, as well as mindfulness-based practices to improve clients ability to be present oriented, alter their points of focus and overall increase clients capability to regulate their emotions.
My main form of practice, in both my work as a trainee therapist and peer support worker, centres around compassion-focused therapy (CFT), which I consider to be amongst the most powerful frameworks for personal growth. From the CFT modality I have extensive experience in working with clients using high-quality gratitude practice, which is the working with clients to become more embodied with their emotional experience of gratitude, compassionate reframing and working with the inner critic. Inner critic work asks us to build better relationships with the, often, louder, and more intrusive parts of ourselves. In doing so we learn how to talk to ourselves in more compassionate ways, learn to forgive ourselves over aspects of our lives that have caused suffering and to move forward with an improved positive bias towards life.
