I’m supportive, friendly but expect a high degree of commitment from my students.
I will assist and encourage students to become independent learners using resources freely available from the Exam Board websites.
Firstly we will identify gaps in knowledge, this will take place through the use of short answer questions and discussion.
Secondly we will agree our focus and use past papers and multi-choice questions to ensure that the area of study has been identified correctly.
Thirdly I will set medium and long answer questions from past papers for the student to respond to under their own timed conditions. These will then be sent to me by an agreed deadline. These will then be assessed for feedback at the next session.
The next stage online is to feedback, fill any gaps and develop further understanding. We will then agree the focus for the next past paper questions.
The cycle then repeats each week.
The students are encouraged to use resources they have identified to support their responses. Students are encouraged to time their own learning under examination conditions, no music or distractions. It is important to highlight that the student responding to the exam questions is not a test. These are learning activities aimed to develop student self learning.
Students will build confidence in their ability to develop learning skills, fill gaps in knowledge and identify resources to engage within for their own identified need.
My role as a tutor would be to assist the student to become independent learners.
