My objective is to utilize the skill set that I have acquired, both academically and practically to inculcate my students. And, to foster an environment of critical thinking. Additionally, create an inviting, inclusive classroom in which all of the students feel comfortable to contribute, at their comfort level of communication (e.g., Spanish or English). I believe, establishing this type of all inclusive setting will facilitate an environment to learn.

Being a person of color and having had lived in multicultural environments in various countries, China, United States, and The United Kingdom. I have had the fortuitous opportunity to have, firsthand, experience with people from various backgrounds. In these encounters I have come to believe that most miss conceptions of others originates from lack of intercultural interaction. Additionally, I have also anecdotally found that once people with false perceptions allowed themselves to familiarize with others, they realized that other races don’t have the negative stereotypes projected upon them.
