Hey! My name is James Leach and I am a part time LSA (Learning Support Assistant) looking to gain tutor based experience in person or online.
I am also a graduate University student via University of Chester with a 1st Class Bachelor's Honours Degree in Game Art.
With that academic experience, I also have 1 year's of game industry experience working as a 3D Artist at Starlight Games based in Liverpool along with that, I also have a fully shipped game title to my name, House of Golf 2, released August 2024.
My primary goal is to help educate my students on Game Art in the games industry. My primary focus will be student to student basis, meaning I will offer dedicated 1 to 1 support and guidance depending on the academic/skill potential of the individual student.
My lessons will cover a range of topics from the basics of 3D Modelling, more aimed at Hard Surface Design, to baking/texturing your 3D Assets and then setting them up in your very own Game Engine Project.
I will also be setting up more technical based tasks for those wanting more of a challenge and the ability to push themselves beyond what they thought possible.
The primary software packages I will be using in my lectures will be as listed below:
- Blender (3D Modelling and sculpting)
- Substance Painter (Texturing and Baking)
- Unreal Engine 5 (Game Engine and World Creation)
My primary focus is to give students guidance in helping them progress from the very fundamentals of Game Art, all the way to crafting and curating your very own Art Portfolio which you can use to showcase to potential employers in the future when you begin job hunting.
Another perk to becoming a student of mine is constant support outside of lessons/lectures on any personal and portfolio based work.
