For example my first student we spent a few weeks broadly looking at the topics and then closer to the exams we focused in on specific topics to get answers in more detail. Then following that we worked through multiple past papers where she would work through an answer then we would mark it together. Also I did some example questions while she watched so she could see my thought process and how I went through answering a question.
Personally I prefer to work off of work that your school has provided as usually this is most beneficial. This could be homework sheets, question booklets or past paper questions. However if it is needed where I think a topic is lacking I can create my own question to be answered on the fly.
