I have spent the last 3 years tutoring students. I have always had an ability to learn and understand maths quickly, yet I wanted to be able to help others, so I spent a year with my maths teacher helping out Year 9s. This gave me the ability to understand how others think and how to convey ideas to others. From this I have developed the ability to focus on how the student thinks.

Depending on the level you are, I adjust how I tend to teach, this may be structuring the first 15-20 practising more basic techniques and then applying these in exam questions. other students tend to grasp these ideas quickly so I will adjust to push their abilities further. I try to boost those skills which you may already have and then pull weaker areas up to a stronger level.

I have always tried to show my ways of thought as well as keeping to the ideas the student may even come up with, this allows them to pick up new concepts yet use subjects they already know to help them remember.
