I have over 15 years of experience in education either as a practical instructor to teacher to Higher Education lecturer. I like to identify firstly with my students their knowledge base and where their weaknesses lie. We review their timetable and agree upon an achievable body of work over a set period of time.

I find that students tend to learn more readily when they can see the practical application of their subject and so with that in mind I try to use as many real world problems that we can work through to ensure a thorough understanding. This might be in the form of case studies, or experiments or exam questions. I am led by the student and if they feel more comfortable with videos then I create a tutor session using such material and I am available to fill in any gaps or reinterpret the information to aide learning.

At the end of each session I will always ask the student to complete a short quiz to check on their understanding.

I am a friendly and approachable person who will always respect their students. I like to have semi-formal tutor sessions where we have fun with learning and it isn’t rigid, stuffy or something to avoid. However in saying that I will always be professional and respect the tutor student dynamic.
