I have many years experience teaching English face to face and online.
I enjoy learning about your interests and try to include these in lessons to make them more interesting for you.
If I sense a lack of focus or boredom I will certainly stop and reroute the lesson!
Depending on the level/goal of the lesson I will introduce topical stories from news and current affairs to increase general knowledge and to make lessons more relevant to today.
I am very happy to follow a particular line of interest or to read a chosen novel/poem as English is a subject that is learnt through many different mediums and not just by dry texts and exercises.
I hope to make lessons enjoyable above all and to recognise when changes need to be made in order to maintain this.
I have taught for many years at the local College and teach English GCSE booster lessons in schools/online for students who are struggling with aspects of Exam preparation. I enjoy building a rapport with my students and have a great respect for children who find they do not feel comfortable in traditional learning environments and who seek out and engage with alternative ways of learning.
