I'm Jack, a friendly, adaptable, and patient language tutor offering lessons in Spanish, French, German, and English. I specialise in helping learners gain real confidence, with clear explanations of grammar, gentle correction of pronunciation, and lessons tailored to your learning style. Whether you're a complete beginner, brushing up after years away, or even neurodivergent, I’ll help you understand the why behind the language—not just the words. With degrees in languages and linguistics, experience teaching in the UK and abroad, and a love for making language learning enjoyable, I’m here to help you thrive and achieve your language goals, together!

I plan my lessons around you, the learner, and what you need in order to best learn a foreign language! I have a strong focus on grammar and pronunciation, as I believe these are fundamental but often overlooked parts of language learning. My mission is to make these elements fun and interesting, and attempt to explain why things are the way they are, rather than just say "it is what it is". I conduct lessons online through video call and prepare explainers and worksheets for us to work through together, which I send ahead of each lesson. We'll also work on building vocabulary and conversation practice, which includes adjusting our lessons to your contextual needs, whether it's simply a holiday to a foreign country or more complex interactions. I have two languages degrees and experience living in the countries that use these languages, so I have the linguistic background and cultural experience to help you learn not only the language, but the associated culture! I have experience in teaching learners from a variety of backgrounds, including foster children and adults with autism and ADHD, carefully adapting all lesson planning and materials to best suit my tutees' needs and goals. The best part about my lessons is that they are constantly evolving, they can follow a rigid timeline and structure or they can equally be fluid and adaptable, depending entirely on what you need. All the languages I have learnt, other than my native English, were all once foreign languages to me too, so I know exactly what it's like to be a learner, from the frustrations and feeling stuck to the breakthroughs and finally "getting it", and I hope to help you in that same journey.
