Having tutored whilst studying at university, I developed a passion for allowing students to discover their potential and getting the most out of their learning. No child learns well when they are bored, frustrated or lacking in confidence. Therefore I like to engage students using a couple of main techniques. These include an emphasis on an abundance visual learning, making topics easier to understand and minimising as much as possible large blocks of text and pages and pages of questions. A few good diagrams looked at in detail can often trump a wordy explanation followed by some questions. Secondly, I like to be inquisitive. Allowing students to work things out for themselves with as little 'lecturing' as possible can make their understanding of topics firmer, and will boost their confidence, allowing their learning to gain momentum.
Lessons of half an hour or an hour can be chosen based on a student's needs and what works best for them.
