Having tutored A-level chemistry for the past year, I have been able to refine my method of teaching and I think the most effective format is to first work through the specification points for a certain topic to gain a complete understanding of what knowledge is required. Then, after working through the specification, I will use exam questions to test understanding and work on exam technique which is an extremely important skill that needs time to develop. The tuition I provide is tailored to the individual meaning that I will go through any topics where knowledge or confidence is lacking. I also try to make tuition as engaging as possible by not just working through examples but asking questions along the way to check if there is any lack of understanding.
