I have experience teaching people of all abilities, from young people (ages 11+) to adults looking to learn basic skills, to those with special learning needs, all in maths and science. I have also tutored adults seeking to learn English during my time living in France and briefly in Norway.

My teaching methods include firstly establishing the child's current understanding, reinforcing this, and taking time to consider which areas can be built upon. After the student has demonstrated they are comfortable with the subject I will introduce new material that they have not seen. I consider this to be a more relaxed way of learning and one that helps the student establish a solid base of knowledge. I often assign tasks to my students which take into consideration that as this is external tutoring, this will often be work added on top of either their usual homework or day-to-day work. I thus build my lesson plan around the student and adapt to what the child is able to do within a set period.

My lesson plans usually last around 1 hour 30 - 2 hours, and I aim to meet my students at least once a week to allow for regular check-ins. For each lesson plan, I also personally set myself and my students 2-3 clear learning goals for each lesson which we will tick off together during the lesson. For those in school, these lesson plans are also planned to reinforce what they have been learning in their school curriculum and are planned based on UK official school and exam guides. My online lesson plans also feature interactive learning methods and accessible technology for the students. If in-person, I also ensure that the correct equipment is provided to ensure neither I nor the student is unprepared for the lesson.
