Using my 6 years of engineering education along with my real world, in industry experience I find relatable and demonstrable examples of complex subjects to allow students to easily visualise the effect working.
I normally begin the lesson with a quick evaluation from the student regarding their confidence on the subject at hand and any particular areas that they want to go in depth on.
If applicable I have an array of physical demonstrations that I can show to help further visualise principles.
The content of the lessons is completely driven by how the student learns, if they are a practical learner then there will be a more practical bias and if they are more theory based then we will go down that avenue.
I work on site as an engineer currently for a well known food manufacturer which allows me to keep my skills and knowledge sharp to ensure that the information I impart on to the student is as valuable as possible, there may even be opportunity for me to give a tour of the site allowing the student to gain a real life perspective of engineering in action.
I have an array of PowerPoint presentations and worksheet resources that cover masses of subjects which I provide for the purpose of a revision aid if that is beneficial to the student also.
