The first lesson I always use as a 'diagnostic' tool, I need to know where you think you struggle then see you work through the exam questions relevant for those areas. Once I see how you approach the questions and where you have gaps in your knowledge or need help adapting it to answer the questions we together can make a plan for each lesson and the activities we will cover in each. I have found the best way to ensure it is learnt and then can be retained and recalled is through practice, that means practice questions every week, not just ones I've made up but real life past exam questions that prepare you for the real thing. I will also encourage you to look though the mark schemes when we are looking at questions so you can understand what they are looking for and what you need to make sure you can show the examiner that you not only understand the subject area but are confident in being able to communicate your knowledge. I will always keep track of your learning, scores and where you might have just misunderstood the topic or even just the wording of the question, allowing me to tailor the lessons to ensure you are getting the most out of our sessions!
