There is a laid back environment during class as it is a collaborative space where I encourage independent thinking and confidence. I have found students respond better when they can share ideas and thoughts without fear of being judged.
lessons often focus around question responses. I often give an example question, we discuss it together and go over any content needed for the question. I give the student a few minutes to think about how they want to respond, which we then discuss. i then give the student time to write out part of a response whilst i interject and collaborate with them. I do this because the collaboration part gives the student insight into other thought processes- for example- why I would write specific things.
I also do content lessons where we create notes together on texts and context to consolidate the exam based lessons.
I have worked as a tutor for nearly a year now, I have just had students sit their GCSEs. Prior to that, i volunteered at school tutoring year 7s English in the mornings before class starts as well as tutoring family friends for their GCSEs/ A-Levels. I achieved two 9s in GCSE English and As in both A-Level Literature and English Language. English really is my passion, something I have continued into university where I now study English/Linguistics at University of York.
