For starters I aim to ask my students what difficulties they face in mathematics i then for the first lesson create a road map with them to create an end target for them which will motivate them to progress (for students below gcse this is with presence). Every lesson then aims to progress along this road map with the eventual goal of having a strong understanding in mathematics. I also provide exercises and resources for students to look and complete. For me my way of learning maths has always been through examples and practicing many questions which helps build intuition that can be used later down the road. Together myself and my students like to create flash cards and other ways to help memories certain tricky concepts, for gcse for instance creating a mini “formula sheet” which they can memories and help them with their exams.
I have quite a bit of experience in this field, having taught ks2 mathematics in my local library to children as well as teaching gcse mathematics to many students in my siblings classes. I was also a student prefect in Ilford county high school, a grammar school in Barkingside, where I also tutored year 12 students in AS level mathematics. During my undergraduate I studied Mathematics with Finance and economics, which I achieved 1st class and the Tanner prize for computational mathematics. I helped many of my peers in certain modules where I achieved 100% and gave zoom lessons to some teaching them the techniques. I now study Financial Mathematics Msc at Kings college London where I continue to develop my understanding in mathematics.
I hope to hear soon for those who are interested, and hope to make many live mathematics as much as I do :)
