I focus on situations, thoughts, emotions and physical feelings connect to the situation and actions individual is resulting in taking. The best way to describe CBT is that cognitive behavioural coaching focuses on the future and solutions to your client's challenges. I usually would have a casual chat with client about the issue they facing and somewhere during the conversation right question is asked which unblocks locked until now ability to view situation differently by the client. This is most awarding feeling. Seeing sometimes physical change is amazing. I asked client to use thought dairies to help achieve better and longer lasting results.
When mentoring encouraged and empower personal development, help to identify and achieve career goals by using SMART goals model and identify and correct gaps in generic skills and knowledge.
By having open conversation and being curious about the client maladaptive believes I help to increase their confidence and change them.
I use SMILE model when in mentoring. In coaching I use ABC model, Gerkings model, Downward Arrow Technique, The Beck Self - concept Test or The Edgan's skilled helper model.
I am constantly increasing my knowledge and in upcoming months I have sign up to two additional coaching courses - stress management and developmental and transitional coaching with Centre of Coaching.
