I have done a lot of tutoring and teaching. These lessons have all taken on different forms as I am very quick to ascertain the individual needs of the student I am focusing on. In terms of the format, I am very informal and friendly. I find this helps to cultivate an open and honest discussion with the pupil about what parts they are struggling with and where they are finding things are working for them. The lessons start with a recap from the student about how they are feeling about the subject and the previous lesson. Then this will be followed by a brief overview from me of what I will expect from them in the lesson to come. I will then recap slightly from the last lesson and then move onto the new content, however, this changes based on individual needs as I said. How I teach; I use a variety of methods that need to be tried and tested with the pupil to see what works. Whether this is more independent work that I then check in on, or a more collaborative approach there are a variety of methods I can use and I am confident that there will be one that works for you. I then end the class with question/ feedback time and planning our next few steps leading to the future lessons. I grow along side my pupil to ensure we have cohesive and effective lessons.
